Class B, CDL Training Program
Program Description
•Our Class-B program runs Monday through Friday. We offer this class once or
twice a month depending on the demand. Please call the school with a Monday
date that you would like to start. Classes currrently run 9 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. for up
to five days. This is a hands-on training program. Students learn all of the control skills to pass the control-skills test and to obtain their commercial driver license.
Students may schedule their control-skills test on Friday or the following Monday.
•Students need an Indiana driver's license and a social-security card. They must be
able to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and a
five-panel drug screen. At the student's request CDTC will schedule their DOT
physical at a nearby facility.
•Students must complete the written tests for the instruction permit before the class
start. These are the tests for general knowledge and air brakes. We do not
require the hazardous materials endorsement in our program. Students can pick
up the CDL test booklet at their nearest BMV or log onto the state BMV website.
You will study 4 sections from this booklet to take the tests: sections 1,2,3 and 5.
If students plan to drive a bus, they will also need to take the public passenger test
(section 4).
•At the end of the class students will need $150.00 for their control-skills test. This
will be paid directly to the test site.
•Students are responsible for their DOT physical, instruction permit, control-skills
test drug screen and license issue.
